Refugee Crisis in Europe

There has recently been a considerable increase in the number of refugees and migrants entering Europe.  In some countries this has resulted in disruptions such as: Official checkpoints set up on normally open border crossings with other countries, borders temporarily closed, road and rail travel halted with little or no warning, services disrupted at short notice and delays at border crossings.

We recommend UT Dallas travelers to:

• Monitor the media and local developments closely.
• Follow any instructions or advice issued by the local authorities.
• Contact your transport operator directly to check whether your service has been affected.
• Be prepared to arrange alternate routes and modes of transportation as needed.
• Enroll in the Department of State’s Smart Traveler Enrollment Program (STEP) if a U.S. Citizen.
• Report with your home country embassy at your destination if not a U.S. Citizen.
• Check your Personal Emergency Action Plan.
• Contact International SOS in case of emergency.
