Avoid Nonessential Travel

U.S. Department of State

  • Syria Travel Warning. The Department of State continues to warn U.S. citizens against all travel to Syria and strongly recommends that U.S. citizens remaining in Syria depart immediately.
  • Pakistan Travel Warning. The Department of State warns U.S. citizens against all non-essential travel to Pakistan.
  • Yemen Travel Warning. The U.S. Department of State U.S. urges citizens to defer travel to Yemen and for those U.S. citizens currently living in or visiting Yemen to depart.  For more information, view the U.S. Department of State Yemen Crisis page.

  • CDC Road Safety Advisory.  Follow these tips to minimize your risk of being injured in a car crash while you travel.  Additionally, read the our previous relevant post on Road Safety.

U.S. Department of State

  • Haiti Travel Warning. The State Department alerts U.S. citizens that Hurricane Matthew has passed through Haiti and the Embassy is resuming normal operations.  The authorized departure of family members has been lifted. The Department continues to warn United States citizen travelers of serious problems concerning emergency response/medical care infrastructure and crime in Haiti.
  • Democratic Republic of the Congo Travel Warning. The U.S. Department of State warns U.S. citizens of ongoing instability and sporadic violence in the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
  • South Pacific Tropical Cyclone Season – Travel Alert. The State Department alerts U.S. citizens to the South Pacific Tropical Cyclone Season, which begins November 1, 2016, and ends April 30, 2017.
