Avoid Nonessential Travel
CDC
- Ebola standing travel notice. CDC urges all US residents to avoid nonessential travel to Guinea and Sierra Leone because of unprecedented outbreaks of Ebola in those countries.

- 09/03/2015 Turkey Travel Warning. The Department of State warns U.S. citizens traveling to or living in Turkey that the U.S. Consulate in Adana has authorized the voluntary departure of family members out of an abundance of caution following the commencement of military operations out of Incirlik Air Base in southern Turkey.

- 09/08/2015 Middle East Respiratory Syndrome coronavirus (MERS-CoV) – Saudi Arabia. Between 26 and 31 August 2015, the National IHR Focal Point for the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia notified WHO of 22 additional cases of Middle East respiratory syndrome coronavirus (MERS-CoV) infection, including 3 deaths.
- 09/06/2015 Plague – Madagascar. The Ministry of Health of Madagascar has notified WHO of an outbreak of plague. The first case was identified on 17 August in a rural township in Moramanga district. The case passed away on 19 August. As of 30 August, 14 cases, including 10 deaths, were reported. All confirmed cases are of the pneumonic form. Since 27 August, no new cases have been reported from the affected or neighbouring districts.
- 09/06/2015 Middle East Respiratory Syndrome coronavirus (MERS-CoV) – Jordan. Between 30 and 31 August 2015, the National IHR Focal Point of Jordan notified WHO of 2 additional cases of Middle East respiratory syndrome coronavirus (MERS-CoV) infection, including 1 death.

- 09/04/2015 Tanzania Travel Alert. The State Department alerts U.S. citizens residing in or traveling to Tanzania to the upcoming general elections scheduled for October 25, 2015. U.S. citizens are urged to exercise caution and remain abreast of the security situation throughout the electoral period.
- 09/04/2015 Burkina Faso Travel Alert. The Department of State alerts U.S. citizens to the risks of travel to Burkina Faso during the October/November election season.

- 09/07/2015 Summary of public health threats, CDTR week 36/2015. This issue covers the period 30 August to 5 September 2015 and includes updates on an outbreak of vaccine-derived poliovirus in Ukraine, Ebola virus disease, Middle East respiratory syndrome – coronavirus (MERS CoV), and West Nile virus.

- 09/03/2015 Ebola in Liberia. CDC is no longer recommending that US residents practice enhanced precautions when traveling to Liberia. Although there is believed to be no risk of Ebola to travelers, travelers should, as usual, avoid contact with sick people, dead bodies, or blood and body fluids. The health infrastructure in Liberia had been severely strained by the Ebola outbreak but is now returning to normal.
