  • Security Message for U.S. Citizens: Sapporo (Japan), Tropical Cyclone Lionrock. The U.S. Consulate General in Sapporo cautions U.S. citizens that Tropical Cyclone LIONROCK is bringing heavy rainfall, high winds, and high tides to wide areas of Tohoku and southern Hokkaido. All U.S. citizens living in or traveling to the area should monitor local weather reports, follow directions from local officials, and take other appropriate actions as needed.

  • Zika virus advisory.  Local mosquito transmission of Zika virus infection (Zika) has been reported in Singapore and the British Virgin Islands. Local mosquito transmission means that mosquitoes in the area are infected with Zika virus and are spreading it to people.  For a list of all Zika virus travel notices by region, visit the CDC Zika travel information.

Security Messages for U.S. Citizens

  • Security Message for U.S. Citizens: Singapore, Zika Virus. The U.S. Embassy in Singapore informs U.S. citizens that the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has issued a travel notice regarding the Zika virus. CDC recommends that women who are pregnant should not travel to areas that are at elevations less than 2,000 m above sea level in countries with ongoing Zika virus transmission.
